In Progress - Cream Pitcher
I made good progress last night and finished another layer on the pitcher. So far everything seems to be coming along. I still need to do a little more work on the pitcher and then focus on finishing the cloth and the reflections on the table.

In Progress - Cream Pitcher
Once again I stayed up a lot later than I wanted, but I was making good progress so I didn't want to stop. The 6:15 alarm clock is going to feel a lot earlier than normal. Oh well.
As you can see I worked on the cloth and also painted in another layer on the background. Next session I will start on the pitcher.

In Progress - Cream Pitcher
Here are a few more progress shots of where I am at right now. Tonight I laid in another thin layer for the background and table. I also scrubbed a little white into the cloth to start establishing the lightest values. The next session I plan to continue working on the cloth and table, leaving the pitcher for last.

In Progress - Cream Pitcher
Made a little more progress last night. I struggled a little bit on the cloth, and had an easy time on the pitcher. That is completely opposite of what I thought would happen. I was a little nervous about the reflective glass in the beginning, but it doesn't really have alot going on, so it ended up being fairly straight forward. The cloth on the other hand, has alot of subtle variations in value. It is really thin so the light glows through quite a bit creating a really nice effect. But that effect is proving to be difficult to paint.

In Progress - Cream Pitcher
Here is the latest work in progress. It's a small cream pitcher and linen cloth that is draping over the edge of a table. I've included several shots of my early progress.
Above:
Using a mix of burnt umber and ultramarine blue thinned with Gamsol, I painted the entire surface and slightly wiped it down to reduce the intensity.
Above:
Then using the same paint rag I wiped out the lightest areas of the painting.
Above:
I had a light pencil sketch that was pretty much washed out with the initial layer of paint, so I went back over the sketch to re-identity the subject.
Above:
Using the the same mix of burnt umber and ultramarine blue I now paint in the darkest darks.
Above:
I still have some work to do in the cloth and pitcher before the under painting is done. The pitcher is made of clear glass so it will be mostly the same value as the background. I'm not sure how finished I will go with the underpainting. I'm always anxious to jump right in and start the color layers, so I probably won't do much more than what I already have.
