Green Apples - Second Sitting

The time is now 2:30 a.m. and I just wrapped up the second sitting for the green apples. This was about a 4 hour session and I'm dead tired. Overall I'm really happy with how it's looking. Once this layer is dry I'll go in and start glazing. Hopefully I'll be done in another sitting or two.

Green Apples - In Progress

I started my latest painting tonight. It's a still life of two granny smith apples that I setup on a black sheet. I spent about three hours this session creating the drawing and laying in the underpainting. I hope to get back to it tomorrow to start laying in some color.

This is my first painting in years and I honestly have no clue what I doing. But I had fun doing it and I'm just happy to be painting.

I did several sketches of this before I started to determine what composition I wanted and I ended up with this one. I really liked it as a sketch but with the final piece in color I'm not quite as happy with it. I think it would have been a stronger piece with the surrounding environment around it.
